Give Your Heart A Break

"Give Your Heart A Break" - Demi Lovato

Sometimes, you have to step away from it all and...

Give your heart a break.

There are moments when, if you're lucky enough,
the heaviness inside seems to drift away effortlessly.

I sat with my friend, Jessica, this weekend.

We celebrated.
30 years of her life.
Almost 20 years of friendship.

We joked at how we could easily become "ladies who lunch" and never get sick of it.
We outdid ourselves with our usual bouncing around of a million and ten chat topics...

Food, new songs on the radio (which we sang ever so beautifully to one another), our men, hot blonds, Rhianna, New Orleans, chicken farms and chicken nuggets...
And how I'm secretly in love with this song.
And how I belt it out at the top of my lungs whenever it comes on the radio.

The beginning of a beautiful 14 hour day together began with a walk in town.

We couldn't resist a trip after lunch
 for a couple doses of
  Raspberry Truffle and Guatemalan Ripple.

I kinda inhaled mine.

And entertained Jessica while she finished her last scoop.

Next destination...

 Pedicures

We added "ladies who get pedicures" to our "ladies who lunch" list.

A little intermission...

Putting my crazy cat lady skills to good use and feeding the stray kitties at one of the offices I clean.

It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it.

Pottery painting was next on the list.

After deciding on a platter and vase, we picked out our paint and sat down for some fun.

I couldn't wait to see what my super talented amiga was going to create.

Yep, it's awesome!

We're so excited to see them once they're fired up!

Naturally, we closed the place.

one cupcake left...

Dinner at casa de Marino's.
Steve was a sweet Mr. and grilled us up some yum-o chicken.

I cooked for Jessica - Gnocchi alla Purina Cat Chow.

Dinner is served!

Within 5 minutes of walking in the door,
I'm already making a mess. LOL

Jessica taught me how to saute spinach for the fifth time.
And who am I kidding...she cooked.
But, hey, let's not forget, I "chopped" the bread.

Stuffed with goodness

Gifts for "Cins"
She was upset the cat candle wasn't for her.

Reunited and if feels so good.

We laughed hysterically when Muffin took the spotlight with her mad paper chasing skills.

What a sweet and special day it was. <3
***
Tonight ended with a glass of red, dark chocolate cupcakes, and the newest episode of  "True Blood"
while sitting close to my husband.
And, I'm thankful for that, as the weeks ahead push us closer to challenging times and decisions.

Life sure isn't always cupcakes, pedicures and vampire soap operas.

But when the weight of the world sits on your shoulders,
you can always count on the love placed in your life to
give your heart a break, help ease the ache,
and make you realize that
life is still so, so good.
***

Wishing everyone a great start to a fresh, new week!

I'll be back in a few days.  <3

Lots of Lovin',

Hi there Maria,
What a wonderful message "Give Your Heart A Break!" Guess what?! Even my unreliable internet service made me hear some of the song. I tried to picture you singing along!:) As always the pictures are so beautiful. Happy Belated Birthday to your friend and I wish her many, many, more Happy Birthdays. By the way, I note that you can paint Maria! You and your friend did a great job! I can't believe that I did Art classes in high school. They did not last long!LOL It is really nice that you got to have such a fun time celebrating with your friend. Continue to have good times. Take care and have yourself a wonderful week. Lots of Love, Friendship and Best Wishes always!
