One Month

I'm sitting with my left leg hanging off the side of the bed.  And my toes are wrapped around the edge of Piper's Fisher-Price Rock 'n Play, rocking her back and forth.  Her eyes are closed, but she's sneakin' a peek at me every few seconds.  This little girl is an observer.
She doesn't miss a thing.
More like, she doesn't want to miss a thing.  (Now I'm gonna have Steven Tyler's voice
 singing in my head!)
I find myself feeling the same exact way...
Our little babe turned one month last Wednesday.  And she's five weeks today.

adorable stickers from Aunt Kelly

That bittersweet emotion that comes with babies growing and getting older...
I'm finally truly understanding it.

With each new day, this little bundle of love gives us 101 new reasons to smile.

Reasons, we will always want to remember.
Reasons, we want to savor.

Piper says "Hey, peeps!  I'm one month old.  See my wittle finger!  Yep, I knows it!"

Piper is strong.

She holds her head up like it's nobody's business with that little neck of hers.
She loves tummy time 80% of the time.  She impresses the heck out of us with her will to
turn over.  She loves to kick her skinny, long legs and move and shake her arms and fists.
She's a wiggle worm.
Karate choppin'

Piper wants what she wants when she wants it.
She gets so excited when it's time to nurse.  She moves and shakes and sometimes cries when I'm getting her meals ready (breakin' the boobies out).  She hums and sounds like a seagull when she's eating.  Oh, and the tootin'.  She loves to toot.  Especially when she's nursing.
And she's mastered the blowout.  A true poop machine.
"She's just my poop machine.  A gassy, tootin' fiend!"
Her faces...
Oh, her faces.  We adore them.  Can't get enough of them.
She has at least 9,328 new ones each day.
They make my face hurt from smiling and laughing so hard.

"What chu talkin' 'bout, Mommy?"

Piper's one month appointment was last Thursday.
She nestled into Steve while we waited for the doctor.

Piper weighed in at 10.1 pounds.  But then she pooped all over the scale.  Like, a super mega poop.  I wanted to high five her.  It was hilarious.  The nurse joked she was probably in the high nines after that sweet stinky surprise.
She measured 22 inches.  And checked out beautifully.
Before leaving, she got a vaccine.  I watched as her face went from cheerful to absolutely terrified as the nurse stuck that needle in her teeny thigh.  Piper wailed louder than I've ever heard her.  I got teary-eyed as I swooped up my little Pips.  Poor lil' munchkin.

"Did you just say I need to get another shot next month?!??"

"Piper.  Piper.  Piper Grace.  You're so pretty, I love your face.
Piper.  Piper.  Piper Grace.  The sweetest baby in the whole darn place."
I sing that song to her over and over again.  I wrote it myself (the week we came home), in case you were wondering.
Piper loves music just like her Mommy and Daddy.
I sing to her all the time.  Sometimes, "Rockabye Baby" is on repeat when she's being a vamp baby.
Dee Dee switches her tunes to lullabies as soon as we come over to visit.
And Pippy is definitely learning a bunch of country songs.
Music is soothing.  And she knows it.  She loves cuddling.  She is a major love bug.
Hold her tight and she'll be your best friend.  Find the perfect spot for her to rest her head and she's all yours.  Pat her back and sway around and around and she eventually will be putty in your arms.
She can also be a crankmeister.  If she doesn't like what you're doing, she'll let you know.  This babe has a nice set of lungs on her and she's not afraid to use 'em.
She will look you right in the eyes and give you that insanely precious "Piper pout" and you'll do absolutely anything to turn that frown upside down.

It may not seem so, but I call our babe by her real name more than any of her nicknames.
Though, she does have a bajillion nicknames.  Of course, there's "Pips," "Pippy"
and "Pipsy!"
And just to name a few other faves - Mooncheekins (which I covered in my last post).
Steve calls her "Little Scrumptious" a lot.
When I burp her, she's "Mr. Magoo."  She looks like a little old man (the cutest little old man) when her cheeks slump into my hand and she does her best to work out a belchie as I pat her back.
And when she gets a certain look on her face, she's "Marky Mark" (as I sing "Good Vibrations" in my best baby voice).  Because she looks like a baby Mark Wahlberg to me.  I don't know...something in her eyes and nose.
I could go on and on...
I'll have many more words and photos in the next post
to go along with all the little ways we celebrated Piper's first month of life.
I made Betty Crocker made cupcakes to ring in the special occasion.
Piper hung out with me in the kitchen while we waited for the oven to beep.

"Are those all for me?!"

"Hand it over, Mommy!  I saw you scarf two of those suckers down as soon as they came outta the oven!"

Happy One Month Birthday
to our beautiful, funny, expressive, spunky baby girl!
One month Piper pout

"I am Piper-Pippy-Pips-Pipsy-Little Scrumptious-Mooncheekins-Mr.Magoo-Marky Mark baby.  Hear me roar!"

"Wait!  What?!?"

"Catch me if you can!"

This past month has been the best month of our lives.
And it's all because of this sweet face.

<3 A happy video <3

Celebratin' good times...

Okay seriously, MR MAGOO? I love that cartoon. It's the ONLY one you can get me to sit and watch in all of my life. Somethin' bout Cha-lie!! Goodness.

Pips is growing beautifully and you seem at home with her in your, STEVE'S TOO, arms as though she was always meant to be there. I so look forward to each post you write to see how our Honorary Cyber Baby is doing. I'm digging her outfits, better dressed than most adults. Little bugger. :)

I do hope your both resting as much as you can and taking in every single moment. It's just a blink.... see it while you can.
Hugs
Tammy

Happy one month!!! I think the single most awful part of having a newborn is that first shot. I all out cried with Gavin's first one. I felt like I broke his baby heart! The good news, it is all down hill from that. <3 Well done, Mama!

I love that you wanted to high five her when she pooped on the scale, hilarious!

My sister shed a few tears when Noa Grace got her first shot. My mom use to do the same thing. I guess it's a mama thing :)

Haha... I love that she is Mr. Magoo from time to time. :)

All of these pictures are too cute for words! You can really see her personality in these -- and she looks so much like you! Since she's coming out of the newborn stage (tear, tear, I KNOW!), you can see it more, I think. Bittersweet, isn't it?

I hope you, miss Piper, Steve, and the kitties are having an amazing week! Can't wait to see/hear/read more! <3
