Piper's First Weeks

*Thank you so much for all the beautiful, touching comments and emails on Piper's birth story.
You have no idea how much it means.
It, of course, felt so wonderful and surreal to write...to relive those days and feel all that emotion come sweeping in again.
Thank you
all.
<3

A little over 1,800 photos have been taken since Piper was born.
Here are 100 and some favorites...

Pictures beginning at one week after Piper's birth and ending at her turning three weeks, this past Monday...

Daddy's first day back to work went well.  He had a week off with us and headed back the Monday after Piper arrived.  We miss him each day, send him lots of photos and texts throughout the day and get so excited when we hear him come through the door each night.
Piper and I moved upstairs to the bedroom with Steve two weekends ago.  She did great with the transition.  She sleeps by my side of the bed in her Rock n' Play - waking up anywhere from 2-3 times between 12am and 9/10am to feed (and poop).  Like last night this morning at 4:15, when Pips woke up with a big surprise in her diaper.  While changing her, she decided to give me an even bigger surprise...another dose of poo - shot right out at me - all over my nightgown.  I cleaned up the explosion, fed my little poopy machine and then did a load of laundry
and got a quick shower at 5 a.m.

It's hard to believe Piper is 3 weeks and two days old today.  I can't wait to write her one month post and fill it with fun tidbits and facts about baby P.  Okay, okay, I can wait.  I love my tiny less-than-one-month babe.

Okay, onto the pictures...

Uncle Nicholas (Pipsy's twin) came to visit.

Aunt Kelly did too. Piper melted in her arms.

She loves her time with Daddy.

And has gotten used to Mommy kissing her non-stop.

Twinkie loves her and keeps an eye on her often.

The morning of Steve's first day back to work.  Mommy was on very little sleep.  And Piper was loving life, comfy as ever on my shoulder.

I promise, I did NOT teach her this.  LOL!!  This picture cracks me (and Dee Dee) up!

I made good use out of a ribbon we had laying around.
I don't think it's too big, do you?

Piper enjoyed a visit from Aunt Kim, Cindy and Adam on a very warm Tuesday afternoon.
Perfect day to break out some baby shorts.

Dee Dee came to visit later that night.  Piper had her first huge smile.  She loves resting on Dee Dee's chest (or "the desert" as my mom calls it...because her "wells are dry" unlike mine). :)

Kerry and Veronica came to meet Piper!
We had just come home from her doctor's appointment.  Her weight checked out great.  She was up to almost 8.4 pounds.

Uncle Nicholas came by for a few snuggles.

Noah met Piper and loved her right away!  "She's so tiny.  Did it hurt when she came out?" he asked.
LOL!  Too cute!

He gave her footies kisses.

Aunt Karen and Dee came to visit.

Aunt Karen so kindly brought over "Captain Chucky's" crabcakes and an enormous salad.

Piper was sad she didn't get to try the crabcakes.

Kisses from "Deeds"

Yummy Italian pastries from Aunt Karen.

Aunt Jessica came over to hang with us girls.
I dressed Piper in one of her many pretty outfits from Aunt J.

"Hey Mama, we gotsa little problem here!"

Love it!

 The "Piper POUT!"

Uncle Ed came over when Steve came home from work.  The boys went out for a few brewskies and brought wings, cheesesteaks and strombolis home for us.

Our guard kitties

Oh, Mr Chibbs!

3 loves <3

Aunt Jessica put together a beautiful gift basket for Piper
filled with books and pretty summer clothes.

Piper's first handmade, super sweet and adorable card from Aunt Jessica.

She loves loves loves bathtime.  (I have a short video towards the end of the post.)  Piper gets so calm, wide-eyed and content in the water.  She nom nom noms her hands and enjoys the sound of the water running.

Aunt Jen and Uncle Sean came to visit.  They so thoughtfully
brought us a homemade Mexican feast - tacos, rice, beans and Jen's fabulous guacamole.
We had a nice, relaxing night together with Miss P.

April 13th was Steve's 36th birthday.  I love that Piper and him share a birthday month.
Piper and I woke up early and made the old man Daddy breakfast.

I dressed Piper in an outfit I knew would make Daddy smile all day...
The "Muffin sweater" Aunt Jessica made paired with Chloe's "old" skirt and sweet tights.

Baby girl was ready to help Daddy celebrate!

We stayed in, watched movies and cuddled all day.
Steve went out to get a haircut while Piper and I set the table for dinner!  Thanks to Aunt Jessica and Aunt Jen, I didn't have to cook.  We had a yummy, cheesy pan of baked ziti in the fridge from Jessica and Jen brought Steve a birthday gift that made him giddy - meats galore!
I bought Steve's favorite wine, poured him a glass and lit a candle while we waited for him to come home.

After I calmed Miss Pips down from all the excitement, we sat down to eat as Steve talked about how this, by far, was his best birthday yet.
I surprised him (okay, he kinda got the hint when I told him he might be cold if he wore shorts) during dinner and told him my mom would be coming to babysit Piper for an hour or two.

Dee Dee arrived with gifts for Pips and gifts for the new Daddio.

Piper Sonoma champagne - how perfect!

Dee Dee was SO VERY excited to spend time with her.
She has been dying to babysit Piper.

The birthday boy and I headed downtown.

I surprised him with company from Doug and Vanessa.

Daddy had whiskey and Mommy had cranberry juice and club soda.

Dee Dee sent us lots of cute and hilarious updates through texts/photos.
We had no doubt Piper was in good hands and having a blast with her grandma.

We came home to Dee Dee and Pips snoozin' it up on the couch - such a sweet sight.

My gifts to Steve - photos for his desk at work, lots of candy and his favorite - Cheesy Poofs!

Steve and I took Piper on her first official walk.  She loved it.  Especially the bumps along the way!
She went right to sleep.

Last Wednesday, we had a family day.  Daddy took a personal day.  Piper screamed with glee.

It was gorgeous out.  We took Pippy on a walk and introduced her to the cute little
town we live in while we took in the nice weather.

We were hungry from all the walkin'.
We couldn't decide where to eat.  Steve thought of the perfect place and wouldn't tell me until we arrived.  California Tortilla - I was a happy lady.

Piper had sweet dreams and didn't wake up once.

Afterwards, we had a mini trip to the grocery store and left just in time, as Piper cried like crazy on her way home.  She was ready for dinner!

I love watching her snuggle on her Daddy.

Pips modeling one of her many outfits from her Dee Dee.

Another walk on a very windy day.
Dee Dee isn't gonna like this pic with her hair all in her face. :)

Pips says "Hiya everyone!"

Tiny baby.  Tiny gelato.

Carol and Aunt Kelly visited this past weekend.

Addison got to meet Piper.  I can't wait for Addison, Chloe and Daxon to get to know Pips.

Right after a blowout and pukey.  It called for bathtime!

I bundled Piper up and headed over to surprise Dee Dee with a visit.

One of her many faces that we adore.

My mom played lullabies and rocked Piper for a good half hour.  Piper loved the music.

After an hour of snuggling, we took her for a walk and stopped to visit
Uncle David and Aunt Lorrie.

This picture cracks my mom and I up.  It looks like my mom just stole a baby!

My lovers

We laid around Sunday afternoon and decided to get some fresh air.

Steve suggested coffee before our walk.
I stopped in Dunkin' Donuts and then we headed out.

We walked and walked and walked and surprised Dee Dee, who was mowing the lawn,
with a visit.

After Piper enjoyed some time with Dee Dee and ate her first "dinner" of the night, we headed back home for dinner.

Twinkie keeping watch.

Ready for bed.

Good morning, sleepykins!

A little bath video. <3

 ****

I can't take it.  I can't take it.

The enchiladas I made for freezer meals are all gone already, so I made another batch.
I crave Mexican food almost every day.

Dee Dee and Piper trying out her new play mat.

Until next time,

We hope you have a smiley day!!

I'll be back at the end of the weekend
with more adventures.
<3

I loved reading your first few paragraphs. They seriously took me back to when Logan was a newborn. The way your described everything -- I pictured him at my bedside at our house, those nighttime feedings, and the things that shot our of him while I was changing him! lol. Thanks for the memory -- now I REALLY want another one like RIGHT NOW! :)

I'm so glad you guys are doing so well! I feel like you might be supermom, throwing in a load of laundry and showering before 5. You're making us look bad! ;)

THE PICTURES ARE ADORABLE. Can you imagine if we lived in the days of no digital cameras? I laugh all of the time (And then get confused!) because I have a baby album for Logan -- like my mom has for all of us -- but I just get so overwhelmed about WHICH of the millions of pictures to actually print out and put in it! Haha, first world problems, right?!

She is SUCH a beautiful baby, and you are looking FABULOUS for just having a baby! Mommyhood looks good on you!

Hope you have a great week, dear friend! <3

Absolutely gorgeous photos! I love how in one in looks like Piper is flipping the bird and in the next one she's giving the peace sign.

It's so great that you have so many friends and family members to welcome her home.

Happy belated birthday to Steve!

(I love Mexican food too. Yum!)

Can't wait to see more pictures. :)

All the best, Maria!

Lots of love,

Alex

Ha! I have to laugh at how many pictures you have of her in her rock 'n play. I only laugh because our pictures are the same way! I swear the twins basically lived in those the first weeks - even at 3 months they probably spend way more time in them than they should. Whoever invented those things is a freaking genius, no?! That's great you and Steve were able to get out of the house for a few hours for his birthday. Happy Birthday Steve! Oh - and can I just say you look great pushing a stroller mama!! ;)

She is something isn't she, all worth the while and efforts of all and clearly a loved little bugger. I'm loving some of these photos with her and her pout, oh my. Daddy's in trouuuuuuuuu-ble! That sweet girl is going to have you both wrapped, as it should be. Huggers. Tammy

1800 pictures?! You are so good! The thing I regret the most the first few weeks of Mia's life is that I hardly took any pictures! I just wasn't functioning very well on no sleep and I was too lazy to pull out my big camera, I forgot about my point and shoot camera, and my phone took crappy pictures so I didn't even bother with that. I got the iPhone 5 weeks after she was born and I'm always snapping photos now :)
Piper is just so precious! Such a sweet little girl!
