A Week of Memories

It's been a relaxing one.  Our first real snowfall came today.  While sitting here, watching steady, small flakes still hit the deck, I'm finding it hard to move my butt from this chair for the rest of the afternoon.

Muffin's in total agreement with me.

I loved that Thanksgiving was a little bit early this year.  I don't know about you, but I felt as if Christmas was being pushed before we truly even celebrated Thanksgiving.
Time is flying.  This pregnancy is going by faster as the weeks go by.  And I know with the holidays approaching, we're gonna feel that speed increase even more.

The beautiful reality of what's to come is hitting us hard.
And this past week, Steve and I were blessed to give thanks in more ways than one.

A week of Memories...

Monday night, we babysat Mr. Noah.
We painted.

Noah chose Spiderman.

We laid out our masterpieces to dry and headed downstairs for some Chutes n' Ladders and puzzles.
Noah won every single game.

***

Tuesday - I went over Kelly's and was greeted by two little girls dancing to songs from The Nutcracker.  Kelly and I sat with bins of her girls' baby clothing from years ago, reminiscing as we went through the tiny outfits Addison and Chloe wore when they were small babes.  Kelly, thoughtful and generous, sent me home with a giant bag of clothes for baby girl's first few months.  I sat at night pulling every piece out, showing Steve, as we scrunched our faces and said ohmygoodness 802 times- feeling the realness of it all sink in.

***

Wednesday - I don't have a picture.  But oh, I wish I did.  My mom and I went to my dad's to find my old dresser/changing table from when I was a baby.   It was in a far, far away land - the storage closet in my brother's room.  Nicholas had a blast when my mom and I came into his room, determined to bust that baby outta the way back of that "closet of death" - Hoarders : Closet Edition best described the scene.  We dug through 7,382 pounds of crap, boxed up old games and toys, discovered old notes my friends and I wrote to one another in high school and middle school (hilarious), knocked over Nicholas' rack of cds, and watched as my mom whacked her head - causing her to slam the door - crashing one of my brother's hanging pictures into pieces.  My mom and I howled and laughed our hyena cackle.  Nicholas, not so much.  It was then, that my mom busted out her guns of steel, and "hulkamania-ed" the dresser out with all her might - Thanks, mom! (Again, wish I had a photo.)
After some love and some paint (our next project), the dresser will be the next addition to baby girl's nursery.
***

Thanksgiving was a sweet one.  I stayed up late making a few things on Wednesday night so the oven would be free in the morning.  I slept in and woke up to the sound of Steve chopping celery and onions and by 11, we had the next few hours to lounge.

Caught!!

Steve and I woke up Friday commenting to one another on how truly relaxing Thanksgiving was.
It's not to say that others past haven't been to an extent.  But this one was different.  The good kinda different where you know some things are changing - you appreciate all you've been through - and soak up the newness of it all.

The Robinson's came for a little visit

Family <3

Mom had a Thanksgiving treat for baby girl...

a box filled with 7 sweet itty-bitty outfits - the babe's wardrobe is growing.

The kitties begged us to not throw away the paper for days.  3 cat beds, and they choose to lay on wrapping paper.

Black Friday, my mom, Karen and I spent a good ten hours parading through the mall and shopping areas.  It had been a few years since I joined them.  It was a wonderful day. We started late and ended late. We went to a Chinese buffet and pigged out on everything except their cold and yuck-o crab legs.  Poor Karen was wishing she didn't sit behind me on the car ride after that meal.

I love these ladies.  Still shopping at almost midnight.
***

After a long and fun day, I was pooped (in more ways than one) and ended up sleeping in later than I have in months on Saturday

We Steve got started on the rocking chair - sanding the ever lovin' out of it while I stood there and looked pretty pregnant.

She's lookin' good.

She's primed.  Has a pretty shade of paint on.
And will be ready for another coat or two in the next couple days.
***

Sunday, while watching our beloved Walking Dead, we couldn't help but be distracted by crazy Muffin.  She's obsessed with straws.
See for yourself.

This photo is now in my top 5 favorite photos of all time.
***

And yesterday - lots of sorting through our already acquired baby stuff and lots of dreaming about what's to come.

My mom ordered baby girl her crib last night - so special to us.  It will be here in ten days or less.  And I imagine once it's all put together and we see it sitting in our girl's nursery, it will all hit us even harder.

We are so very thankful.
<3

Have a wonderful night, friends.

Thankful, Thoughtful, Tuesday Lovin',

You certainly had a wonderful Thanksgiving Maria! I love all the beautiful pictures. Your cats are so cute! I like that picture of the cat with his face in the glass!:)I am happy that preparations are going well for the arrival of your little girl. Such beautiful clothes your mom bought for her! Steve is doing a great job with the chair. You are going to enjoy sitting in it with your daughter. More happy moments are in store for the future! Lots of Love, Friendship and Best Wishes to you, Steve and Beano! Enjoy the rest of your week.

It sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I can relate to the cat drinking out of your glass - My cat Ohana will ONLY drink from a glass! I could fill up his water bowl with the freshest and coldest water in town but he still waits until I get a glass of water from the sink. And he gets pissed if I don't fill it up enough for him to drink out of it!!!

Hahahaha just had to come back and see the picture of Muffin and the straw. Seriously, what is up with her and straws? I've honestly never caught my kitty making those facial expressions. Although I KNOW she goofs off when we aren't looking, she thinks she is just above all of that activity. We are HER pets, here to entertain HER. Ok, she's snobby. But I caught her checking out Twinkie over my shoulder. She thinks he is a stud.
Wow..can you tell I have been up for 36 hours?? Last week of school! Two more final exams and then the semester is over. Then I will sleep. Then I WILL sleep.
