Jingle

I'm in a goofy mood tonight.  It's been a long day and I need to head upstairs soon, take a shower and get some sleep.  Twinkie's curled up beside me, completely covering the pillow he's asleep on and I'm finding it hard not to close my eyes and join him.

This has been his spot all week.

I plan on coming back with another post before Christmas.
I'm looking forward to a night of writing and reflection.

But tonight, in my kooky state of mind...I've got a bunch of memories and a few crazy Christmas songs to share.  I've been listening to a lot of festive tunes lately.  I can be found belting them out in my car, humming them as I clean, blasting them in our living room and my favorite - substituting "Muffin" for the words in every single song.  For instance - "Jingle Bells" becomes "Muffin Bells"..."Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" becomes yep, you guessed it - "Have Yourself a Merry Little Muffin" - Steve and I find ourselves playing this "game" all too often.

Anyway, there's always those few songs that make you cringe and laugh out loud at the same time - ludicrous lyrics, obnoxiously loud voices and beats...

Here are my top two give-me-the-heebie-jeebie Christmas songs...

Dan Fogelberg - "Same Old Lang Syne"

The first set of lyrics in this song say it all -
"Met my old lover in the grocery store.  The snow was falling Christmas Eve.  I stole behind her in the frozen foods and I touched her on the sleeve."

What in the world, Mr. Fogelberg?!?!!!
My pal, Addison, happens to adore this song while her mama shares in my disgust.  It was the very first Christmas song I heard this year.  I wasn't so sure if that was a good or bad sign.  I had to record it and voice note it right on over to Kelly as soon as it came on.

Oh and this one - it makes me want to flush my head down the toilet.  My mom has enjoyed tormenting me with this one for years.

Barbara Streisand - "Jingle Bells"

Grab your earplugs, people!!

And now for my favorite song to torment my friends with...

Alabama - "Thistlehair the Christmas Bear"

Yes, that is the name of the song.  My dad has listened to Alabama since I was little.  I shamelessly love them and love their Christmas cd.  "THTCB"...it makes me want to put on a bear costume, giant Santa hat and suspenders and gallop and skip through my neighborhood spreading Christmas cheer.

See, told you I was in a weird mood.

Onto the memories from the past week - memories that I will have words and emotions to go along with in coming posts...

Breakfast with Jen and Sean

Followed by a trip to the tree farm with Steve

Mr. Chibbs loved the tree twine!

I've been cooking.  And surprisingly, not burning the house down.

Date night in with Mr.

I spent a relaxing night watching "Friends" last week while making a Christmas wreath.

Last Thursday, Steve had a night out with work, while I had a girls' night in at my mom's.  Karen, Lisa, mom and I spent the night gabbing away and catching up over snacks, salsa and guacamole.

I strung the lights on our tree last week and left them that way for a few days.
I always like to wait a bit to decorate it.

Twinks pulled up a chair.

Friday was a special day.  I spent the day in my pajamas, with candles lit, a cup of decaf that never was finished and the company of the kitties and lots and lots of ornaments.
Decorating the tree is one of my favorites.

Muffin loves to help.

I surprised Steve when he came home from work.
He did the honors.

25 week bump shot

Adam and Kim...
We celebrated Adam's graduation with lots of their wonderful family and friends.

Oh Christmas tree Twinkie

I made pork chops and again, didn't burn the house down.  I earned two star stickers last week.

26 week bump shots

So very, very grateful and blessed - my baby bump in front of our Christmas tree...
How I've dreamt of this day.

Good night, friends. <3
Wishing everyone a week of peace and joy.

I'm following too.

This post is great, a busy fun time, for sure. And that Streisand song, ugh. I usually think she does a great job, but that sooooooooooong. I heard it for the first time earlier this week and even my five-yr. old was like, 'what?!?!?' hahaha

I love your Christmas tree and you did a great job with the wreath. All the wonderful food is making me feel so hungry and I still have over an hour before lunch time for me in Jamaica!:) Your cats are so-o-o cute! I am glad everything continues to go well with your pregnancy. Continue to enjoy the holiday season Maria. Lots of Love, Friendship and Best wishes to you, Steve and Beano!

Your tree is SO pretty! How relaxing to spend a day with some kitty snuggles and ornaments to make something so beautiful. We got a real tree this year too, and we really like it. I think we will keep it up for a few years.

Ahhhhhhhh, so much wonderfulness in this post!! I could comment all day! First of all, your tree is GORGEOUS. I'm in love with it (and simultaneously a little jealous)! And your 26 week bump shot in front of the tree is the sweetest, most beautiful thing I've ever seen. A beautiful, glowing Momma standing in front of her beautiful, glowing tree...presents under the tree but the greatest gift of all nestled comfy and cozy in her belly. So, so amazing. What a Christmas blessing!

That Alabama song...hahaha! I laughed so hard. We now have an official Christmas song for Bear ;).

I'm so glad y'all are soaking up every minute of this special holiday season with your Baby Girl...you will cherish these memories forever. Give that perfect little belly a rub for me please! XOXOXO
